A low-impact passively designed home, an abundance of food at your doorstep, a cooling, biodiverse food and harvest forest - what is your vision? A good permaculture design not only captures a project's vision, it provides a clear path for realizing it.
What is Permaculture?
Permaculture is a holistic design and sustainable living approach that works with nature and natural patterns to create regenerative landscapes and resilient communities.
Permaculture has three main ethics: Care for the Earth, Care for People and Return the Surplus (Fair Share) and a set of interrelated design principles organized around Attitude, Cooperation, Ecology, Scale, Energy and Resources.
Permaculture in practice manifests as understanding natural patterns and reading the environmental and social landscape; designating land-use zones and integration of design elements through whole systems thinking to meet site/project-specific water, energy and resource needs; as growing your own food in kitchen gardens, food forests, regenerative agriculture, harvest forests and creating wildlife habitat ensures food security and preserves biodiversity; and as establishing sustainable housing, communities and economics.
